I suggest you ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. Add support for restarting an application

there are cases where it is useful to be able to restart an application.

    For example
    1) making configuration changes
    2) in the case that the startup did not succeed properly (perhaps the DB was down or a call to a web service failed or something)

At the moment, the way I cause a restart is by deploying a previous build and then re-deploying the correct build. This is not ideal but it is the only way it can be done at the moment.

  6. Allow simple migration from US to EU Instance

Currently, there is no straightforward manner to migrate an original Appharbor application from a US instance, to an EU one.

Also - when on a US instance, there is seemingly no way to check if your existing Add-Ons will work on EU instances - without creating a new application of course.

  7. Memcacher support for EU instances

I make use of Memcacher, hence would love EU support before I migrate over to an EU instance.

Thanks again for making appharbor available on EU servers!

  8. View your web.config file from within the control panel

Provide a link to download the web.config that has been deployed against your application. This will let us ensure all config settings are correct

  9. Support Simple.Testing Framework

Check out https://github.com/gregoryyoung/Simple.Testing, it's a neat way of writing specifications and it would be awesome to get support for it.

  12. Support any build configuration and connected web.config transform (web.test.config / web.stage.config / web.release.config)

With Web Deploy 2.0, it is easy to build deployment packages by using the correct build configuration and web.config transform that goes with it for .NET web apps.

Currently, AppHb only supports the release build configuration and hence the web.release.config for deploying our .NET web apps.

This makes hosting a testing environment (having a test build configuration and web.test.config) cumbersombe to deal with. Out of the box support for this would make it possible to host all environments @ AppHarbor with ease.

  13. Better document how to set up SSL

I just had to go thru the steps to take a GoDaddy SNI certificate and install it on my AppHarbor app. It turned out to be somewhat non-trivial for me, because I don't normally deal with keys and certificates. It would be really nice if there was a simple how-to to explain what to do. For example, in what format should one load an intermediate certificate --- I did trial and error until I found that it should be base-64 encoded.

  14. Lower your custon name prices

I really like appharbor but I really need a custon name and if I need to pay 10 dolars for a custon domain to be used unfortunally i will migrate for a hosted solution

  15. Auto Scaling Instances

The ability for AppHarbor to automatically scale up or down server instances based on the load of the current servers.

Some additional suggestions on implementing this, would be a max number of instances you will let AppHarbor scale to and notifications if you are approaching the max number.

  16. Add pure file storage addon

Many web applications need a reliable file storage. Add an addon that can be used exactly for this purpose with an optional CDN capability.

  17. Post deployments to New Relic

New Relic integration is fantastic. Would be great if each app deploy was posted as a deployment event to them.

  18. Add branch name to the application build list

Our sources are in a GitHub repo with multiple branches. We have a webhook to AppHarbor. Any push to a Github branch leads to a corresponding push and build on AppHarbor. Most of our pushes are to sub-branches of master (test, dev, etc). We typically do not want or need them deployed into production. There is no way to tell on AppHarbor which branch a particular build came from. It would be great to add the branch name as a column in the default Application build view so that we don't end up manually deploying a build from a test…

  19. Support NuGet Community Projects

By utilizing the architecture of AppHarbor, the community could manage the releases of NuGet packages.

I would tell AppHarbor to watch my public GitHub / Codeplex project. If I push changes to the main branch, then the changes would be pulled, built, tests run, and then the nuspec would be compiled and pushed to Nuget or any other NuGet based service (maybe even AppHarbor's own).

Possible prerequisites to pushing to NuGet might be:

    1. Providing your personal login information for NuGet.
    2. Making AppHarbor an owner, so they can do pushes on your behalf.

The only thing that might need…

  20. to allow dedicated SQL server to host my shared database(s) instead of buying one shared database for each application.

As the title describe, if I buy dedicated SQL Server, can I config that server to host many databases? Those database(s) will be used by appharbor application(s).
